With more winter weather in the forecast, it is time to thank the tireless efforts of our city, county and state road crews, who have done a tremendous job this winter.
The snow may have taken a while to arrive, but when it did, it came in truckloads.
Day-after-day, it snowed in southwest lower Michigan.
Each day, we got up and headed out to work or school on roads that were in pretty good shape.
When winter weather strikes, these men and women who clear our roads work endless hours to keep them safe for us to drive on.
It couldn't have been easy to make that happen with snow coming down literally at a rate of several inches per hour.
Add to their woes the sub-zero temperatures they had to endure.
With the thermometer dipping well below freezing, keeping the roadways from icing up was a difficult task.
Soon our road crews will begin their annual ordeal of filling in all the potholes created by those wintry conditions.
The holes have already started popping up and work on filling them has begun.
Winter may not have been as long as past years, but the amount of snow we received in a limited amount of time certainly made up for it.
Thanks to the road crews, we were able to make it through and can now start looking forward to the arrival of spring.
Thanks again to all those who are responsible for making our roadways safe for driving.
