NILES - Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Niles was alive with music Sunday.
The church was celebrating Black History Month with a program presented by the Mt. Olive Music Department. Also part of the afternoon was recognizing famous black Americans that led the way to make a better life for people today.
McAfee, also a member of the Mt. Olive Senior Choir, said there would not be the right to vote or to an education without those who lived before us. But, she added, it was not enough to be thankful, and people needed to take advantage of the opportunities and encourage others to do so as well.
