Budweiser Open a hit with bowlers

NILES – A total of 78 bowlers participated in the annual Budweiser Open, which was held at A.A. Timberlanes Bowling Center the first two weekends in February.
Bowlers came from Benton Harbor, South Bend, Ind., and as far as St. Louis, Mo. This tournament is held once a year and is a scratch tournament.
There were two perfect games bowled during the tournament. One from Mike Vanderbuttes of Niles ad the other by Milo Jeffries of Benton Harbor. First place went to Jeffries with a score of 2,911. He averaged 243 and received $500 in prize money.
Second place went to VanderButtes with a score of 2,902. He averaged 242 and took home $250.
Third place went to Dan Hoffman with a score of 2,693; fourth place went to Ryan Covelady with a score of 2,663 and fifth place went to Ron Jonas with a score of 2,652.
