Winter may be harsh, but it won’t last forever

Friday's below-zero temperatures were one more reminder that we are firmly in winter's grasp.
Coupled with the several inches of lake effect snow we have received this past week, no one can deny the troubles brought upon us during the cold months of the year.
Frozen and bursting pipes, treacherous driving conditions, short daylight hours and mounded snow piles on the streets are but a handful of the promlems we face during the winter, but there is one important fact to keep in mind – it won't last forever.
While the cold temperatures and the snow have shown little sign of abating, the days are starting to get longer, and an earlier sunrise is a welcome sign even if it is too cold to watch it.
We have had to deal with a season somewhat more harsh than previous years, but this too will end. Soon, the daytime temperatures will rise and the snow will retreat, eventually to be followed by budding trees and fresh grass.
So, we only need to bear with this weather for a few more weeks before we get some relief. And while cold winters will eventually give way to hot summers, we can hopefully count on a pleasant and comfortable spring.
Winter is a fact of life in Michigan, but another fact of life is that winter will not last forever, no matter if it seems like it will now.
