NILES – The Niles varsity volleyball team posted a 5-1 record Saturday at the South Haven Invitational.
The Lady Vikes were undefeated in pool play, and head coach Linda Goodrich said the team came out flat in the semifinals against Comstock.
"It is hard to beat a team once, to beat them twice becomes more difficult," Goodrich said.
High points on the day came from Mehgen Flynn, who dominated on offense and Stephanie Stoops, who recently moved up from the JV team, brought her intensity to the defense.
Goodrich said Karly Kennedy made a strong switch to the libero position and has really become more aggressive serving. "She continues to be an option for us at outside hitter, but is confident at both positions," Goodrich said. "Patty Anton also made a switch to outside hitter and stepped up to the challenge."
