The Dowagiac Middle School wrestling team finally got to open up its season on Wednesday when it faced Coloma and Edwardsburg.
The Chieftains won just five of 23 matches.
Picking up wins for Dowagiac were Tyler Frese, who won a pair of bouts, Matt Dodd, Reed Ennesser and Logan Slabaugh.
Also wrestling on Wednesday were Sam Courtney, Steven Bannow, Gaige Grant, Tyler Dean, Zach Hyatt, Bobbie Payne, Brett Smith, Eric Charles, Joe Baddner, Ricky Roach, Steven Baylock and Ryan McCuddy.
