Niles wrestlers grab two on the road

NILES – Three Rivers and Climax-Scotts were both handed losses from the Niles varsity wrestling team Wednesday evening.
The Vikings defeated Three Rivers, 38-25, and Climax-Scotts, 57-19.
Picking up two wins on the night were Jake Glueckert (125), Todd Scansen (140), Ben Brandstatter (160) and Kenyon Ellison
Glueckert defeated Cody Morrill of Three Rivers, 13-1, and Brian Armstrong of Climax, 14-0.
Scansen pinned Tanner Kirchner at the 1:58 mark and pinned Mike Slager at the 1:49 mark.
Brandstatter also won by pins, sending Ethan Myers off the mat with 3:47 on the clock and Josh Coburn at the 1:08 mark.
Ellison won by forfeit against Climax-Scotts and defeated Rusty Gearhart by decision, 4-0.
Other Viking wrestlers picking up one win were Gage Pearison (103), Nate Allison (112), Marcus Bricker (119), Bryce Flannery (130), Andrew Karsten (135), John Wregglesworth (145), Derek Purcell (152), Alex Zanders (171) and Micah Barrett (189).
Niles will now prepare for the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference meet on Saturday.
