CASSOPOLIS – While investigating the armed robbery and subsequent seizure of a marijuana grow operation earlier this month, detectives from the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team, working in conjunction with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), gained information that led to a search warrant being issued for a residence at 67174 Bulhand Road, Calvin Township, Edwardsburg.
On Wednesday, Jan. 24, at approximately 2 p.m., Cass County sheriff's detectives, deputies and canine unit, Dowagiac police officers, FBI agents and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, as well as narcotics detectives, raided this residence.
Once inside the residence, methamphetamine, more than $75,000 in cash as well as more than 70 weapons were discovered.
Many of the weapons that were discovered were assault-type weapons as well as semi-automatic pistols.
Investigators have determined that some of the weapons had been reported stolen and that none of the pistols discovered were registered.
The homeowner of the residence was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of stolen property and numerous firearms charges.
Another person at the residence was charged with frequenting a drug house.
Both were lodged at the Cass County Jail, where they are awaiting arraignment.
