NILES – Niles mayor Mike McCauslin is throwing his hat into the ring for a third term heading up the city's government.
"I think public service is important," McCauslin said, adding the work the city is doing in a number of areas is motivating him to run again.
"There are a number of projects I want to see to fruition," he said. Among them are continuing the development of the riverfront, the sewage disposal system upgrade and the city's employee transition program.
"The infrastructure is important to the community for attracting new people and businesses," McCauslin said. He said a great deal has been accomplished so far, but added "we still have a ways to go."
McCauslin, who has served as mayor for nearly eight years already, will go before the voters in November. Presently, he knows of no one else who may oppose him for the mayor's seat.
He said he feels fortunate to have been involved to this point, adding "I want to continue for a few more years."
