DUHS freshmen squad blows out Allegan

ALLEGAN – The Dowagiac freshmen basketball team built up a 12-point halftime lead on its way to a 52-31 victory over host Allegan on Friday night.
The Chieftains raced out to a 13-5 first quarter lead, which it extended to 25-13 by the intermission.
Dowagiac's lead reached 35-23 heading into the final quarter where the Chieftains outscored the Tigers 17-8 in the final eight minutes.
Brandon Douglas led Dowagiac with 13 points, while Andrew Cripe and Jalen Nickens both scored 10 points for the Chieftains. Dowagiac also got 12 points from Cody Cox.

The Dowagiac junior varsity basketball team was trying to win its first road game of the season and looked to be on its way at halftime.
The Chieftains led 22-10 at the intermssion, but were outscored 38-24 in the second half and wound up on the wrong end of a 48-46 loss on Friday night to host Allegan.
Dowagiac led 11-4 after one period of play and by 12 points at halftime.
Allegan outscored the Chieftains 22-6 in the pivotal third quarter to take a 32-28 lead into the final quarter.
Shaun Bruens led Dowagiac with 11 points. Drew Cooper and Dre Kiser both scored nine points, while Zach Russom and Greg Nelson finished with eight and seven points respectively.
The Chieftains are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Otsego. The freshmen game will start at 4:15 p.m., while the junior varsity game is slated to begin at approximately 5:45 p.m.
