The ninth annual Dowagiac Rotary Club Snowed Out Shoot Out will be held at Southwestern Michigan College's Zollar Sports Center on Feb. 10-11.
Teams are being sought for the tournament. Cost is $100 per team with a three game guarantee.
This tournament was originally organized to serve junior high school basketball players who were frustrated by the Blizzard of 1997 and the cancellation of several games.
The tournament has been so successful that is has continued to be conducted under the same name. It is primarily aimed at eighth grade teams, but seventh graders are welcomed to compete as well.
Teams may be organized and coached by parents, boosters or high school players. The reward from the tournament are primarily intrinsic, but each head coach will be given a custom embroidered polo shirt for his or her efforts in organizing a team.
All games are played on a regulation (NCAA) Student Activity Center main floor and follow slightly modified Michigan High School Athletic Association middle school rules. Varsity officials from the Southwest Michigan Officials Association will referee all games.
The tournament will be limited to eight teams. For a tournament application and more information call Ron gunn at (269) 782-1209.
