The Christmas break is over and the Dowagiac sports teams are getting ready to head back into the gym this week.
The Chieftains will still be off on Monday and Tuesday before resuming its winter sports schedule on Wednesday night.
The Dowagiac junior varsity and varsity wrestling teams head to Paw Paw on Wednesday for a Wolverine Conference quad with the host Redskins, Comstock and Gull Lake.
The Chieftains will wrestle against Comstock and Gull Lake. The JV will wrestle at 5:30 p.m. Dowagiac's varsity will wrestle Comstock at 6 p.m. and then wrap up the evening against Gull Lake at approximately 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, the Dowagiac volleyball teams will return to action.
The Chieftains will host Vicksburg for a tripleheader beginning with the freshmen and junior varsity matches at 5:30 p.m.
Dowagiac's varsity will face the Lady Bulldogs at approximately 6:45 p.m.
Wolverine Conference leader Dowagiac will finally return to the hardwood on Friday night.
The Chieftains, who are 4-0 in the league and 4-1 overall, haven't played a game since before Christmas.
Dowagiac travels to Vicksburg for a tripleheader, which will begin at 4:15 p.m. with the freshmen contest. The JV game will follow at approximately 5:45 p.m., while the varsity tilt is slated to start at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the varsity volleyball team will compete in the Portage Northern Invitational. Pool play begins at 8:30 a.m.
Dowagiac will send two varsity wrestling squads to tournaments on Saturday.
The Chieftains will send one team to the Kalamazoo Loy Norrix Invitational, while the other team will compete in the Brandywine Invitational.
