The Dowagiac varsity wrestling team went 3-2 at the Geoff Rogers Wrestling Classic at Gull Lake High School in Richland on Thursday.
The Chieftains defeated Cedar Springs (36-28), Gull Lake (51-26) and Kalamazo Loy Norrix (75-0).
Dowagiac lost to ranked Jenison (57-9) and to Edwardsburg (42-30).
Going 4-1 on the day for the Chieftains were DeShaun Baylock, Nate Behnke, Drew Staley and Robert Wescott.
Zach Roden went 3-1.
"I thought we wrestled pretty well," Dowagiac coach John Green said. "Edwardsburg has one of the nicer teams that they have had over there. We will see them again at districts."
Green added that his squad will get back to work and continue to try and improve.
Dowagiac returns to action on Jan. 6, when it competes in the Chad Reeves Invitational in Decatur.
