Young, 27, died Tuesday morning when a natural gas pipeline ruptured in Porter Township near Union.
Young was part of a three-man crew running primary service to a home. The other linemen were not injured.
The rupture excavated a crater more than 10 feet deep and 75 feet wide, and the sound from the high-pressure blast was heard several miles away.
On Thursday, a spokesman for the Young family released a statement asking for support and prayers to help them during the holiday season.
"Our family is grieving. We're all mindful of this time of year. We ask for peoples' prayers so that we can gather up the strength to get through this during this holiday time.
"While we are all humbled by the condolences we have received," the release stated, "we are politely requesting that all persons and companies contacting us for information to please defer such matters until after the New Year."
