It took less than two hours for the Dowagiac varsity wrestling team to pick up a pair of victories on Wednesday night.
The Chieftains defeated Paw Paw 73-6 in a Wolverine Conference match. Dowagiac then knocked off Berrien Springs 57-16 in a non-league confrontation.
"Overall, it was a good team performance," Dowagiac coach John Green said.
Dowagiac received plenty of forfeits in both matches. Paw Paw forfeited six weight classes, while the Shamrocks forfeited to the Chieftains three times.
Picking up wins via the pin against the Redskins were Richie Hutchinson at 135-pounds, Zach Roden at 145-pounds, Andrew Hurrle at 171-pounds, Drew Staley at 215-pounds and Robert Wescott at 285-pounds.
Hutchinson recorded the night's quickest pin as he stuck Mike Fist in 23 seconds.
Winning by decision for Dowagiac were Terry Prowoznik at 160-pounds and Nate Behnke at 189-pounds.
Winning by forfeit were 112-pounder Nathan Cottrell, who was honored before the match for his 100th career victory picked up earlier this season, Bobby Price (119), Justin Richter (125), John Morseau (130), Nathan Long (140) and Deshaun Baylock (152).
Winning by pin against the Shamrocks were Price, Morseau, Hutchinson, Baylock and Staley. Winning by forfeit were Cottrell, Prowoznik and Wescott.
Picking up a victory by decision was Long.
The Chieftains will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 28 when they take part in the Gull Lake Invitational.
In junior varsity action, Sinjin Ownby picked up a pair of victories by pin.
