Dowagiac falls to Niles

The Dowagiac Middle School seventh grade basketball teams were swept by visiting Niles on Monday afternoon.
The Orange team dropped a 42-24 decision to Ring Lardner, while the Black team was defeated by the Vikings, 46-8.
Jeremy Juday led the Orange team with 16 points.
Dowagiac also got four points from Ryne Willming and two points from both Paul Hyde and George Robinson.
Niles' Dallas Munger led the way for the Vikings with 10 points, followed by Jared Langmeyer with eight, Quinton Irby with seven, Sam Clark with six and Tyler Parish with five.
James Holder's five points led the Black team. Rolandis Russell had the Chieftains' other three points.
On Thursday, Nov. 30, Dowagiac dropped a pair of games against Lakeshore.
The Orange team lost 31-13, while the Black team lost 48-24.
Juday led Dowagiac with 11 points. Sam Courtney had the other two points for the Chieftains.
The Black team got seven points from Jacob Williams and six points from Russell.
Craig Zebell added five points and Anthony Banks four points.
Tony Brooks and James Holder chipped in with two and one point respectively.
Eighth grade
The eighth grade Black team dropped a 35-27 decision to host Niles Ring Lardner Monday afternoon.
Tremail Butcher led the Chieftains with 10 points, while Cody Carnell added six points.
Dowagiac also got four points each from Troy Butcher and Chris Craft.
Corey Rodgers finished with three points.
The Chieftains (2-7) are back in action on Wednesday when they host Benton Harbor Fairplain. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The Orange team fell to the Vikings, 37-12.
Anthony Russell led Dowagiac with five points. Kyle Ward finished with two points, as did Max Howe and Cody Carlisle.
Aaron Blaske added a free throw.
