Eighth grade Orange team picks up first victory

The Dowagiac Middle School Orange basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a 21-16 victory over South Haven on Monday.
Anthony Russell led the Chieftains with 10 points, while Gaige Grant and Ryan McCuddy both finished with four points.
Tyler Dean finished with two points. Aaron Blaske added a point.
Dowagiac will be back in action on Thursday when it travels to Stevensville to face Lakeshore at 4 p.m.
The Black team dropped a 37-24 decision to the Rams on Monday.
Corey Rodgers and Troy Butcher led the Chieftains with six points.
Cody Carnell added four points.

Seventh grade
The seventh grade squads both came away with victories on Monday afternoon.
The Orange team posted a 19-11 victory to earn its first win of the season.
Paul Hyde lead the Orange squad with five points. Brandon Strand, Seth Morris, Sam Courtney, Jeremy Juday, Tony Brooks, George Robinson and Ryne Willming each had two points.
The Black team was a 49-26 winner.
Rolandis Russell led the way with 11 points. Anthony Banks added 10 points, while Eric Charles finished with nine points.
Dowagiac also got seven points from Jacob Williams and four points each from Craig Zebell, Matt Ernzen and James Holder.
