Dowagiac's Nick File had a career year in just one season for the Chieftain football team. He was rewarded for that effort by being named Class B All-State by the Associated Press.
File set new school records for passes intercepted in a season and a career while helping lead the Chieftains to the state playoffs for a second straight season.
File had 11 interceptions this season and finished with 20 for his career.
The senior defensive back already owned the season mark heading into the 2006 season, having picked off nine passes as a junior.
File also had 13 pass break-ups.
File was a two-way starter for the Chieftains, who finished 8-3, losing in the Division 4 District championship game to Battle Creek Harper Creek.
File was one of three area players to get named to the Class B All-State team.
Three Rivers' Zach Jones was named as a linebacker, while Sturgis' Dale Norman was selected as a defensive back.
Both players were named to the honorable mention portion of the squad.
In Class C, Cassopolis coach Any Hubbard was named honorable mention Coach of the Year.
