Hats off to the Cassopolis varsity basketball team, which won its first regional title since 1985.
The Lady Rangers, who shared the Lakeland Conference championship with Bridgman this past season, will play in the Class C quarterfinals on Tuesday at Bronson High School.
We want to wish Cassopolis good luck in the contest.
The Lady Rangers will be taking on Napoleon with a trip to the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State University hanging in the balance.
Cassopolis has had a successful girls' basketball program for years.
The Lady Rangers have been close to getting out of the region and competing against the best teams in the state on several occasions.
However, on Wednesday night at Watervliet High School it all came together for this collection of very special players.
Cassopolis not only has a load of talent, but has a lot of the intangibles that make a team special.
The Lady Rangers have speed, aggressiveness and they can shoot the ball from both outside and around the basket.
Coach Floyd Foston and his players have endured heartbreak the past few seasons, which has molded this team into a tough, cohesive unit.
We would love nothing more than to see the entire community of Cassopolis show up in Bronson on Tuesday night.
This is a special night for Ross Beatty High School and the community of Cassopolis.
So dress up in your blue and white, Ranger fans, and be loud and proud as your basketball team tries to advance to the state semifinals.
