WATERVLIET – Michelle James scored 20 points to lead the Cassopolis basketball team to its first Class C Regional championship since 1985.
The Lady Rangers (19-5) defeated Galesburg-Augusta 48-35 to advance to Tuesday's quarterfinal game against Napoleon, a 50-38 winner over Athens.
"This is very special," Cassopolis coach Floyd Foston said. "I know this means a lot to the seniors."
James had four assists to go along with her 20 points. The Lady Rangers also got eight points and eight rebounds from Tiffany Williams. Dee Dee Hawkins also grabbed eight rebounds, while Nikitas Nelson scored score points.
Amanda Schar led Galesburg-Augusta with 13 points. The Lady Rams finish the season at 19-6.
