Hatchery hosting special programs

MATTAWAN – The Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery Visitor Center today announced two special winter programs will be held at the visitor center, Saturday, Dec. 2. All programs are free of charge.
Ice Fishing 101: 10 a.m. DNR Fisheries Biologist Matt Hughes will teach the basics of ice fishing.
Topics include safety, equipment, techniques and how to locate fish. The program will last approximately 1-1/2 hours and is open to all ages. Light refreshments will be served.
Animal Survival: Where Do They Go in Winter? 1 p.m. Join us to learn how animals survive the cold and snowy winter months in Michigan.
The program includes a non-strenuous, one-mile walk and will last approximately one hour.
Snowshoes will be available, weather permitting. Please dress appropriately.
All ages welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
The Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery Visitor Center is located at Hatchery Road and M-43, six miles west of US-131.
