Seventh grade basketball team splits

The Dowagiac Middle School seventh grade Orange and Black basketball teams split a pair of games against host St. Joe Upton Monday afternoon.
The Black team posted a 20-17 victory over Upton, while the Orange team fell, 24-19.
Anthony Banks led the Black team with eight points, while Craig Zebell added five points.
Dowagiac also got three points from Jacob Williams and two points each from Matt Ernzen and Chris Gantt.
The Orange team was led offensively by Jeremy Juday's six points.
Xavier Steward and Cody Fairleigh both finished with four points, while Paul Hyde had three points and Sam Courtney two points.
The seventh grade will play host to South Haven on Monday. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
The second game will start at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Eighth grade
The Black team dropped a 35-29 to visiting St. Joe Upton Monday afternoon in junior high basketball.
Corey Rodgers led Dowagiac with 15 points, while Darius Wilson added six points. The Chieftains, 1-3 on the season, also got three points each from Cody Carnell and Zac Hyatt.
Austin Adams finished with two points.
Dowagiac returns to action on Monday when it travels to South Haven to take on the Rams. The first game will tip off at 4 p.m. The second game is set for approximately 5:30 p.m.
The Orange team dropped a 36-12 decision to St. Joe Upton on Monday.
Wesley Sims and Seth Engler both had three points for the Chieftains, while Max Howe, Cody Carlisle and Logan Slabaugh all had two points.
Dowagiac is back in action on Monday at South Haven.
