Grandparents and special friends were invited to Kincheloe Elementary School in Dowagiac on Nov. 14.
About 220 visitors came to share some time with excited students.
Principal Dan Smith told visitors, "Your presence here today sends a strong unspoken message to the children you're visiting.
"It says you are special, school is important, we care. That's a great thing to tell these kids."
After spending some time in classrooms, grandparents and special friends were treated to a performance by students in the gym. Kindergarten and Young 5's students performed a rap version of "The Three Pigs."
Music teacher Tara Fletcher led students as they sang songs about family.
