History could be made tonight by the Dowagiac girls' varsity basketball team.
The Chieftains will be looking to grab at least a share of its first conference championship in two decades.
Dowagiac will travel to Paw Paw to take on the Lady Redskins, who will be looking for some payback tonight against the Chieftains.
Dowagiac defeated Paw Paw 55-44 in its first meeting back in October.
Dowagiac coach Greg Blomgren expects a big crowd to be on hand to cheer his squad on.
"I think we are going to bring some fans," Blomgren said. "People are pretty excited about this."
Dowagiac hopes to use a lesson learned just a week ago to bring home the championship.
The Chieftains knocked Plainwell out of a tie for first place by playing its best game of the season. Two days later, Dowagiac played one of its worst games as it lost to Gull Lake and was knocked out of a first place tie with Otsego and the Lady Blue Devils.
Dowagiac bounced back to top Otsego to move back into a first place tie atop the Wolverine Conference standings with the Lady Bulldogs. Plainwell knocked Gull Lake out of first place on Tuesday.
"I think we learned a lesson last week," Blomgren said following Tuesday night's game. "We came off a big emotional win against Plainwell on Tuesday and then we just weren't ready to play either mentally or physically against Gull Lake on Thursday. With what's at stake, I think our girls will be more than ready to play on Thursday against Paw Paw."
Tip-off is set for 7:15 p.m.
