No one could have predicted a more beautiful "Indian Summer" day for the Third Annual Pacemaker Golf Outing held Oct. 3.
Once again the hosts was Indian Lake Hills Golf Club, where Suzy (Vanderberg) and her gang did an outstanding job making all the participants feel most welcomed.
Tee-off was right on time followed by a glorious morning of great golf and renewed friendships.
Special recognition to Roy Gantt for once again hitting an enviable lowest score and Ed Darr for his great putting ability! Worth mentioning is John Markendorf who can actually point to where he puts his ball, and Robert Afman for the longest tee-off yardage.
Jerry Tokars (who has a swing reminiscent of the great Byron Nelson) was instrumental in his coaching abilities. Grateful for all the help she could get was Sandy Jones, RN, the Pacemaker Clinic Nurse at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.
The golfers were joined by their spouses for lunch at the Clubhouse, graciously provided by Kevin LaLone from the Medtronic Pacemaker Company. The highlight of the luncheon was Cardiologist, Dr S. Dhatree of Kalamazoo Cardiology, PC.
His presentation on the topic "Atrial Fibrillation" held everyones attention as this disease is more prevalent in the senior population and can become debilitating if left untreated.
Dr. Dhatree has an office located in the hospital and is available to discuss this topic on an individual basis.
A huge "thank you" to Imperial Furniture of Dowagiac for their continual support of this program and their very generous contribution to the raffle prizes. We also wish to thank the Borgess-Lee Memorial Ladies Auxiliary and the Borgess-Lee Memorial Foundation for their welcomed participation in providing consolation prizes to the golfers.
