Dowagiac defeats St. Joseph, 40-22

Playing its third game in eight days, the Dowagiac Rocket Football League's Minor Division team No. 1 defeated St. Joseph 40-22 at Hassle Field on Saturday.
Sean Alberts led Dowagiac with 191 yards on 10 carries. He scored three touchdowns. Aaron Adams ran for 73 yards and two touchdowns on just three carries. Devin Chapman added 50 yards and a touchdown on five totes.
Sean Yore played his best game of the year at fullback and is credited by the coaching staff for helping the team to a season-high output in offensive production.
Also receiving credit for their offensive work were linemen Zack Marquart, Tommy Smith, Alex Payne, Trestan and Conor Howard, Zack Wallace and Leela Smith.
Sawyer Brown led the squad with 10 tackles. Austin Frechette played well at defensive tackle, which included four solo stops. Austin Francois, Darron Murray, Tyrek Paxton, Roland Lucio, Phillip Kocsis, Brock Moore, Andrew Wild, Erick Walker, Nick Carrey, Travis Brown and Alexandria Kocsis all played well defensively.
Dowagiac will host Hartford on Saturday and then wrap up its season Oct. 28 with the annual Pumpkin Bowl at Chris Taylor-Alumni Field.
