The Dowagiac Athletic Booster Club is dedicated to serving the needs of the high school student-athletes by assisting in purchases that fall outside the regular school budget.
One of our functions is honoring and recognizing our student-athletes from the past year at the annual All-Sports Banquet in May. The awarding of athletic scholarships also takes place during this banquet.
One of our major fundraisers is the annual Chieftain Golf Outing, which has raised over $20,000 annually for the past three years.
Some of the other major projects that the boosters have undertaken recently have been upgrading the weight room at DUHS, building new dugouts at Rotary Park for baseball and purchasing soccer shelters at APEX.
The Booster Club assists in sending coaches to clinics as well as providing the coaches with video and computer equipment for scouting and preparation purposes.
We work hard and have a lot of fun – all for the benefit of the student-athletes.
The Athletic Booster Club is expanding its membership. We are encouraging parents of Dowagiac Middle School students to become involved so that when their son or daughter reaches the varsity level, they can watch their games.
The ultimate goal is to have parents of sub-varsity athletes volunteering at varsity events and have the parents of varsity athletes volunteering at the sub-varsity events.
This will insure that parents are able to watch their son/daughter during their events. If you are not a parent or guardian of a current Chieftain student-athlete you are still more than welcome to get involved in supporting Chieftain athletics!
Membership is a $1 annual fee and meetings are held monthly in the athletic office in the Pathfinders building directly across the street from the high school on the curve.
For more information on the Booster Club or to find out when the next meeting date is, contact the athletic office at 782-4470.
