Lansing Catholic Central needed its fifth man Monday afternoon at Hampshire Country Club to win the Division 3 Regional Golf Tournament title.
Lansing Catholic Central and Kalamazoo Christian tied for the top spot with a score of 319. Using the fifth man tiebreaker, Catholic Central left with the team title, while Kalamazoo Christian and Parchment had to settle for qualifying for the state finals at Forest Akers West on the campus of Michigan State University this weekend.
With the two teams tied at 319, it was Mike Murray's 80 that was three shots better than Nathan Young's 83.
Parchment finished third with a score of 321.
Also advancing to the state finals were the top three individuals who were not a member of a qualifying team.
Those three individuals were Josh Newhouse of Delton-Kellogg, Jason Walberer of Grand Rapids West Catholic, and Sheldon Keyte of Kalamazoo Hackett.
All three golfers finished at 77.
Aaron Cox of Parchment was the medalist as he shot 76 on the day.
The state finals will be played in East Lansing on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21.
