The first tough weekend for the Daily News Football Forecasters didn't provide much of a shake up as nearly the entire panel struggled.
College football had its first weekend filled with upsets and as a result, only three forecasters had a record better than 6-4.
Dowagiac Athletic Director Greg Younger, Dowagiac City Clerk Jim Snow and Daily News Sports Editor Scott Novak all went 7-3. Snow and Younger are tied for third third place at 47-13. Novak is in a fifth place tie with Daily News Managing Editor John Eby at 46-14.
The panel continues to chase Cass County Family Court Judge Sue Dobrich, who, despite being one of eight forecasters who were 6-4, has a very fine 49-11 overall record.
Also going 6-4 on the weekend were Niles Daily Star Managing Editor Michael Guilmette Jr., Dowagiac softball coach Mike Behnke, sports official Bryan Wild, U.S. Congressman Fred Upton, R.-St. Joseph, Cassopolis Police Chief Frank Williams and Dowagiac Police Chief Tom Atkinson.
Allison Hayes of FOX28 was 4-6.
Upton stands alone at 45-15, while Behnke and Williams are tied at 44-16. Wild, Hayes and Guilmette round out the running order.
