After a scoreless first half Monday night, the host Otsego Bulldogs scored three unanswered goals in the second half to post a 3-1 Wolverine Conference victory over Dowagiac in varsity soccer.
Otsego got goals from Scott Cook in the 44th minute, Ryan Smith in the 48th minute and Jeremy Pruis in the 72nd minute.
The Chieftains averted the shutout with a goal by Braxton Hunsberger in the 73rd minute.
Otsego outshot the Chieftains 15-8.
The Dowagiac varsity soccer team will host Paw Paw today at 5 p.m.
JV soccer
The Dowagiac junior varsity soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Otsego on Monday night.
The Chieftains grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute on a goal by Jason Hurrle.
The match remained tied until the 61st minute, when the Bulldogs scored on a penalty kick.
Dowagiac outshot Otsego 18-2.
"Otsego packed the box and we could not find the back of the net," Dowagiac coach Craig Black said.
