Question of the week: With so much going on in the world right now I find it hard to concentrate and focus. I feel a constant anxiety about what could happen next. During the week while I am working it is not as bad because I am preoccupied with work, but on the weekends when I am not busy it seems to get harder. What are some activities that I can do on the weekends to keep strong and to keep going?
Answer: Not only do you need to have a positive focus in your life, but you also need to keep your body strong. The following is a list of ideas to help you move through the trying times that many people are experiencing:
Workout at a fitness facility When you workout you concentrate on your body moving which helps take your mind off any anxieties you may be having in your life or about what our nation is going through. It may only last for the few hours you are at the gym, but your body will feel better because you have given it a positive focus to concentrate on.
Clean your house
Not just the light cleaning here and there, but the real "get down and dirty" type of cleaning. Wash your floors by hand, scrub the bathtub tiles, wash all of the windows in the house, and vacuum under beds and furniture. This type of cleaning makes you concentrate on the job at hand. It can help you work out those frustrations.
Finish a project you have
been putting off
Whether it be finishing a photo album or building a deck, this will put your mind in a positive state and you will feel better for getting it done.
Write a letter
Catch up with people you have been meaning to write to. Write about positive thoughts and try to keep a deep focus on that.
Go out and shop
I do not mean spend all of your money and feel miserable later. I mean to go out and maybe purchase something that you have really been wanting.
Read scripture
There is no better time than the present to turn to the bible and find comfort in what it says.
Clean your garage
For many of us this can be an all day project. Let your frustrations out and reorganize your garage.
Play outside
Sure it may start getting cold outside, so bundle up and release your anxieties by having fun outdoors.
Paint a room
Maybe there is a room in your house that you have been wanting to redo. Get yourself a gallon of paint and have at it.
Do something that you love to do but do not always have time
For example: fill the bathtub and take a long bubble bath.
All of these points are ways in which you can incorporate positveness into your lives. You just need to find a positive peace, which relaxes your mind and takes you away from the anxieties you may feel in your life or about our nation.
