The Dowagiac varsity golf team finished eighth overall in the final Wolverine Conference standings.
The Chieftains, along with the rest of the league, indured some interesting weather conditions on Wednesday at the league meet held at a Pine View Golf Course near Three Rivers.
South Haven captured the league title with a final round score of 312. The Rams, who dominated the jamborees, also dominated the final 18-hole tournament.
Otsego finished second on Wednesday with a 323, while Gull Lake was third with a 325.
Vicksburg was fourth (327), Plainwell fifth (329), Comstock sixth (330), Allegan seventh (333), Three Rivers eighth (336) and Dowagiac ninth (345).
Paw Paw finished 10th with a team total of 377.
Nick Krizinski led the Chieftains with a round of 84. Dowagiac also got an 88 from Kevin Proshwitz, an 84 from Richie Hutchinson, an 89 from Mike Hoff and a 91 from Tanner Melvin.
Dowagiac begins play in the state tournament on Friday when it competes in the Division 3 district hosted by Kalamazoo Christian at Thornapple Creek Golf Course. Play will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Chieftains will host the regional tournament at Hampshire Country Club on Oct. 13.
