Chieftain seventh grade tops Lancers

The Dowagiac Middle School seventh grade football team slipped past Lakeshore Wednesday afternoon, 15-8.
The Chieftains rolled up 321 yards in total offense, led by Rashad Smith's 126 yards rushing.
Anthony Banks returned a kick off 60 yards for a touchdown.
The eighth grade football team fell to visiting Lakeshore, 14-8.
Steven Baylock and Darius Wilson led the Chieftains in rushing. Baylock also scored the lone touchdown for Dowagiac, which got a two-point conversion reception from Brett Lesniak. Austin Adams threw the pass to Lesniak.
Wilson tossed a 30-yard pass to Ryne Lindsey. Adams led the team in tackles and had an interception.
Both teams are back in action on Wednesday against Benton Harbor. The seventh grade game will start at 4 p.m. The eighth grade game will start at 5 p.m.
