Host Paw Paw swept a Wolverine Conference cross country match from Dowagiac Tuesday afternoon.
The Chieftain girls' squad was defeated by the Lady Redskins, 17-43. Dowagiac did not field a full boys' team.
Karson Boyer was the top finisher in the girls' race as she ran a time of 23:56 for Paw Paw. Stacy Sundberg and Stacy Allen were second and third for the Lady Redskins with times of 25:06 and 25:43 respectively.
Chelsey Preston was the first Dowagiac runner to cross the finish line as she posted a time of 26:52 to earn fifth place. Kayla Saviano was sixth with a time of 28:32.
Savannah Eby was 12th (32:38), Katie Hewitt 13th (33:52) and Ali Hess 14th (38:20) to round out the finishers for Dowagiac.
Ben Discroll won the boys' race with a clocking of 19:40. Russell Poffenberger and Aaron Barceau were second and third for the Redskins.
Jason Fryman finished fourth with a time of 21:41 to grab the top finish for the Chieftains.
Evan Bressler was seventh with a time of 22:46, while Brandon Wilson was 11th (27:33) and Josh Kopaceski 12th (32:57).
"All the kids ran hard," Dowagiac coach Ken Jordan said. "It's frustrating for the boys as we've beaten Paw Paw head-to-head twice with a full team."
Dowagiac will take on Comstock in its next meet on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
The Chieftains return home on Oct. 12 when it hosts the Rock &Run Invitational.
