Dowagiac slips past St. Joseph 28-20

Dowagiac Rocket Football League's Minor Team No. 1 moved its record to 2-1 on the year with a 28-20 victory over host St. Joseph on Saturday.
St. Joe grabbed a 12-0 lead as Dowagiac had three fumbles and a season-high 65 yards in penalties.
Treshawn Fields helped lead Dowagiac back as he rushed for 100 yards and four touchdowns. It was the third straight week Fields has topped the 100-yard mark.
Aaron Adams added 78 yards, while Sean Alberts rushed for 65 yards on six carries before suffering a knee injury.
"Our offensive line continues to get better every week," Dowagiac coach Kelly Adams said. "Devin Chapman, Hawky Wild, Rolando Lucio, Sean Yore, Phillip Kocsis, Leela Smith, Erik Walker, Brock Moore, Tyrek Paxton, Darron Murray, Austin Francois, Sawyer Brown and Austin Frechette all played solid on the defensive side of the ball."
Dowagiac will travel to Watervliet on Saturday.
Hassle Field will be the site of Rocket Football games the next three weekends beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The annual Pumpkin Bowl will be held at Chris Taylor-Alumni Field on Oct. 28. There will also be four home games on Oct. 21 at Hassle Field. Port-A-Pit Chicken will be available for purchase that day. Tickets are $6.50 each.
