DMS basketball teams sweep Benton Harbor

The Dowagiac Middle School eighth grade basketball team defeated Benton Harbor Hull Thursday afternoon, 36-19.
Ashley Charles and Victoria Robinson both had eight points to lead the Chieftains.
Dowagiac also got four points each from Rebecca Muha, Bobbie Payne and Kiele Belew. Scoring two points for the Chieftains were Shatesha White, Heather Mathews, Kaisha Martin and Ashley McElheny.
Dowagiac is back in action today when it hosts Lakeshore. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Seventh grade
The seventh grade Orange and Black teams also were victories against Hull on Thursday.
The Orange team defeated Benton Harbor 28-9, while the Black team posted a 16-8 win. It was the first win of the season for the Black team.
Correshia Rogers and Kelsie Primley led the Orange team with eight points apiece. Jacoya Brookins added six points, while Tiffany Tanzillo scored four points.
Dowagiac also got two points from Rylie Cox.
Erica Greenwood led a balanced attack for the Black team with four points. Carley Gentry, Tambreee Phillips, Carly Polomcak, Whitney Donaldson, Kelsey Cleveland and Taylor Meiser all scored two points.
Dowagiac will be on the road today as it heads to Stevensville to take on Lakeshore. The first game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
