The Rangers have a commanding 100-47 scoring advantage over the Bobcats the past three seasons, and now the Rangers can add to that.
The Rangers, No. 2 (Division 7), hardly disappointed the William F. Scott faithful as they routed the Bobcats 49-24 in a match up of conference foes Friday night.
"They got the speed but we just couldn't stop them and some of our kids are not doing what they were supposed to do and they are just pretty darn good. I think coach Hubbard has done a great job and has instilled some discipline there and they are doing what they need to win ball games. That's a pretty darn good football club," Bobcats coach Terry Borr said.
Brandywine jumped on the scoreboard first on a 86-yard touchdown run from Caleb Frazier on the second play of the game.
After a blocked punt by the Rangers, running back DeShaun Curtis took it in from 40 yards out for an early 7-6 Ranger lead.
Curtis led the Ranger offense by scoring four touchdowns in the game on runs of (40, 12, 32, and 28). Quarterback Paul Curtis added two touchdowns of his own on sneaks of 18 and 6 yards out.
The Bobcats put another score on in the first quarter on a Joel Perry keeper from 26 yards.
Cass Led at halftime 28-12.
The Rangers tacked on an early third quarter score to up their advantage to 35-12.
Late in the fourth quarter, Brandywine recovered their onside kick after Joel Perry's 15-yard scamper in for a score, drove to the Rangers' 14-yard line, only to have the ball intercepted at the goal line. Cass ran out the clock to end the game.
Cassopolis, (5-0, 3-0), appears to be headed for a playoff berth under coach Andy Hubbard, now in his second season. The Rangers are one victory away from clinching a post season spot since the '03 season and a possible conference crown since 1990.
The Bobcats, (2-3, 1-2 LAC), now play River Valley at home next Friday.
"I told the kids that we played a good game, made a few mistakes. We didn't have that good of practice this week because of distractions (homecoming, and a birth of his baby boy)," Rangers coach Andy Hubbard said. "We have six great running backs and we were able to distribute the ball and I told the kids that and our running backs do a heck of a job of blocking."
