The fifth annual Marla Miller memorial diabetes benefit dinner Dec. 9 moves to the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall after outgrowing the Eagles Club.
Last year's event raised $1,953 for Charon and Roger Buck.
This year organizers would like to help a dialysis patient.
To apply, write to 29270 Pokagon St., Dowagiac, by Oct. 31.
Miller, born Dec. 5, 1943, died Nov. 27, 2001.
Diabetes was diagnosed when she was in her early 30s.
Her disease eventually made her insulin dependent, from which point she struggled on with a variety of health issues.
She became a dialysis patient in 2000 and traveled three days a week to a South Bend, Ind., hospital.
The former Marla Grant came from a family of nine children and was one of the oldest.
As the wife of Charles Miller, she raised four children as a stay-at-home mom: Tracy (Hyatt), Julia, Mark and Chuck.
