Jr. High basketball teams sweep Rams

The Dowagiac Middle School seventh and eighth grade basketball teams played combined games on Thursday against South Haven.
The seventh grade edged the Lady Rams 14-13, while the eighth grade defeated South Haven, 23-6.

Correshia Rogers led the seventh grade cagers with six points. Dowagiac also got four points from Siera Herter and two points each from Whitney Donaldson and Meghan Hojara.
"We are already seeing improvements in many of the players," Dowagiac coach Katrina Lee said. "They work hard each day at practice and it will pay off for them."
Eighth grade basketball
Dowagiac used a 10-point second quarter to break open the close contest.
Kaisha Martin led the Chieftains with six points. Dowagiac also got four points from Sha Tesha White and Victoria Robinson. Five other Dowagiac players scored.
"The win was a total team effort," Dowagiac coach Bruce Shaffer said.
Dowagiac is back in action on Monday when it takes on St. Joe Upton.
