Dowagiac varsity tennis coach Chuck Rubino said No. 3 ranked Allegan is "as advertised."
The Lady Tigers blanked the visiting Chieftains 8-0 in a Wolverine Conference match on Tuesday.
Allegan (8-1-1) lost just four games in the singles flights.
Dowagiac's Shelly Urbanski lost 6-2 and 5-2 at No. 4 singles to account for half of the games that the Chieftains won.
The second set was stopped after seven games due to rain.
In the doubles flights, Dowagiac won just four games.
"You can see why they are so highly ranked," Rubino said. "Our girls played hard. I was proud of the effort they gave. Hopefully this was a good learning experience for them."
Dowagiac (3-3-1) returns to action today as it travels to Gull Lake for another Wolverine Conference match. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
The Chieftain junior varsity squad was again rained out on Tuesday. Dowagiac will try again to get a match in as it hosts Gull Lake today at 4:30 p.m.
