Chieftains fall to Plainwell

Visiting Plainwell swept the Dowagiac cross country teams Tuesday afternoon in a Wolverine Conference meet at Dowagiac Middle School.
The Trojans had the top five runners in both the boys' and girls' races to score 15 points.
The Chieftains boys' team finished with 50 points, while the girls' team finished with 48 points.
Plainwell's Nick Brenner was the overall boys' winner with a time of 17:52.
He was followed by four of his teammates as the Trojans recorded a perfect score.
Matt Moran, Michael Boulter, Aaron Howe and Mike Martin rounded out the top five finishers.
Evan Bressler led Dowagiac with a ninth place finish and a time of 20:02.
Kasey Proshwitz was 10th (20:12), Jason Fryman 11th (20:16) and Eric Morton 12th (20:19). Brandon Wilson finished 19th in a time of 26:49.
Rachel Davis was the overall girls' winner with a time of 21:32.
Lizz Groth, Elizabeth Alban, Olivia Dorgan and Molly Saunders rounded out the top five finishers for Plainwell.
Dowagiac's Kayla Saviano finished sixth with a time of 25:30.
Chelsey Preston was 10th (27:16), Stephanie Muha 11th (27:38), Savannah Eby 12th (28:00), Katie Hewitt 15th (30:42) and Ali Hess 16th (37:07).
"All in all, not our best race, but we'll keep working hard," Dowagiac coach Ken Jordan said.
