Dowagiac football team racking up the stats

Through the first three weeks of the season, the Dowagiac varsity football team has rolled up some pretty impressive statistics.
Those statistical numbers have translated into a 3-0 start for the Chieftains.
Dowagiac has already gained 800 yards rushing through three contests. The Chieftains are averaging 6.3 yards per carry and 267 yards per game on the ground.
Junior Jamie Simpson leads the Chieftains in rushing with 364 yards on 33 carries. Simpson is averaging an amazing 11 yards per carry.
Senior Jake Shelton is second on the team in rushing with 195 yards on 36 carries for an average of 5.4 yards per tote.
Shelton leads the team in rushing touchdowns with four, while Simpson had three rushing touchdowns.
Mike Laylin is averaging 6.8 yards per carry for his 82 stripes on 12 totes.
DaShaun Baylock is averaging 7.6 yards for his seven carries and 53 yards rushing.
The Chieftains have not thrown the ball much since the opening game of the season.
Dowagiac's quarterbacks have completed 12-of-24 attempts for 215 yards and four touchdowns. The Chieftains have also thrown a pair of interceptions.
Chris Primley leads the team in receptions with seven catches and 134 yards. The senior tight end is averaging 19.1 yards per reception. He has a pair of touchdowns.
