Logansport man arrested for DUI after crash

Dowagiac Police Chief Tom Atkinson reports that his officers investigated an injury accident that occurred at the intersection of M-51 South and M-62 West on Friday night, Sept. 1, at approximately 10:50 p.m.
A 1992 Toyota, driven by a 30-year-old Logansport, Ind., resident, was traveling east on M-62 and disregarded a flashing red light at the intersection of M-62 and M-51.
The vehicle was attempting to drive across M-51 into a driveway for a restaurant and drove into the path of a pickup truck traveling north on M-51.
The pickup truck collided with the Toyota.
Alfredo Martinez, 32, from Berrien Center, was a passenger in the Toyota and received minor injuries.
He was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital by Dowagiac ambulance and was treated and released.
The driver of the pickup truck, Michael Kelley, 42, of Dowagiac, was not injured.
The driver of the Toyota was not injured and refused medical treatment.
The driver of the Toyota was arrested for operating while intoxicated by Dowagiac police and lodged at the Cass County Jail.
Police withheld the name of the driver pending his arraignment in Cass County Fourth District Court.
