GRANDVILLE – Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land announced today an endorsement from another labor union in her Republican re-election campaign.
The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 951 officially endorsed Land's re-election following the respective Republican and Democrat state conventions over the weekend.
"Terri Lynn Land is truly one of the finest public servants we have ever encountered. As secretary of state, Terri Lynn Land always thinks first of her customers, the people of Michigan," said John Schlinker, government relations director of the UFCW. "Secretary Land has made the office more efficient and customer friendly. We respect and admire her management skills and nonpartisan approach to her duties. UFCW 951 is proud to support her as secretary of state for another four years."
Land announced Tuesday, Aug. 22 the support of the Michigan Teamsters Joint Council No. 43, the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and the Detroit Police Officers Association.
"We are proud to add another very important union to our list of supporters following the nominations this weekend," Land said. "We are honored to have the support of Republicans, Democrats and Independents across Michigan as we campaign to continue to improve service for the customer."
UFCW represents 33,000 members who work across the state at Meijer, Harding's, Plumb's, Polly's, Kroger, Kessel, Rite Aid, Knouse Foods, Fry Krisp and Dowagiac Nursing Home. UFCW has two offices – a headquarters at 3270 Evergreen Drive in Grand Rapids, which opened in 2005, and a satellite office in New Hudson.
