Dowagiac police arrest larceny suspect

The Dowagiac Police Department arrested an individual on Wednesday.
According to Dowagaic Police Chief Thomas Atkinson, officers of his department arrested an individual for a larceny in a building, while recovering stolen property he had in his possession.
Police were called to an address on James Street, in the cities northeast corner, just after the the victim saw a male subject run into her garage.
When officers arrived they found that the suspect was gone, as was the victim's lawn mower.
Later, while on patrol, an officer spotted an indiviudal within a few blocks of the victim's house, pushing a lawn mower down the street.
The victim was summoned to the stop location and she not only identified the mower as hers, but she recognized the subject pushing the mower as the person that she had seen running into her garage.
The suspect was arrested for larceny in a building, and is lodged at the Cass County Detention Facility awaiting arraignment. His name is being witheld pending arraignment.
