CASSOPOLIS – The Cassopolis school board hired Robert Gowin as its new athletic director Monday night.
Gowin, a former Cassopolis administrator, replaces Hiawatha Francisco, who was promoted to assistant principal at Ross Beatty High School last month.
Gowin moved back to Cassopolis two years ago after retiring to Florida.
The committee of principal Anthony Habra, Francisco, athletic secretary Jeanne Stamp and school board member Christine Locke, along with two other applicants, screened Gowin.
One applicant withdrew his name.
Cassopolis superintendent Greg Weatherspoon interviewed the final candidates and made his recommendation to the school board, which took action Monday night.
Gowin will begin his athletic director duties on Monday.
