BROOKLYN – Girl Scout members and their families will get an opportunity to see IRL IndyCar Series sensation Danica Patrick and earn $5 out of every adult ticket sold for their local Girl Scout Council by purchasing tickets for Girl Scout Day at Michigan International Speedway.
The event will be held on race day for the Firestone Indy 400 – Sunday, July 30.
Tickets for this exciting Girl Scout-only event are $10 for the Girl Scouts and their siblings ages 12 and under and $40 for their parent or guardian and can be purchased by calling MIS at 517-592-6666.
Girl Scouts who attend the event will also have the opportunity to earn a Girl Scout "Fun" Patch. The deadline to sign up for the event is Friday, July 21.
"We are excited to team up with MIS to give Girl Scouts the opportunity to explore a non-traditional career for women," said Margaret Hoffman, Director of Program Services for Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council. "We are grateful to Danica Patrick for agreeing to meet the girls in person to share her own words of inspiration and encouragement. And it's a great event for the whole family to enjoy together!"
Girl Scouts and their parents are encouraged to attend not only to see Patrick as the featured speaker, but anyone who purchases tickets to the Girl Scout Day at MIS will receive a seat for the Firestone Indy 400, a hospitality pass which includes lunch and a pre-race pit pass with garage access, along with the $5 donation to their Girl Scout Council for every adult ticket sold.
Patrick has four top-10 finishes in seven 2006 IndyCar Series events, including her second straight top-10 showing in the Indianapolis 500 (fourth in 2005, eighth in 2006).
Her best finish in 2006 thus far came in the Streets of St. Petersburg (sixth) on April 2.
