Michigan All-Stars take win over Indiana East

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – A five-run fifth inning lifted the Michigan All-Stars to a 7-2 victory over Indiana East at Bethel College Tuesday night in Sports Fest softball.
Indiana grabbed a quick 2-0 lead on the defending champions, who roared back with five runs in the fifth inning. Michigan scored two runs in the top half of the seventh to complete the scoring.
Niles' Stephanee Schrader opened the fifth inning with her second double before Kelli Zache of Brandywine and Niles' Lindsay Carey followed with singles.
A pair of East errors aided the rally, while Lakeshore's Amanda Harrington was safe on a fielder's choice play. Ashley Willis of Dowagiac and Monica Gathright of Lakeshore followed with run-scoring singles.
In the seventh inning Rachel Batman of Brandywine walked, Lakeshore's Molly Lange reached first on an error and Kim Luthringer of Dowagiac drove in a run for Michigan.
Zache picked up the victory in relief of starter Maureen Pickar of Dowagiac.
Zache and Schrader both had two hits for Michigan, which plays at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in the championship game against Indiana Metro.

Michigan All-Star baseball team falls in final innings
MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Six runs over the final three innings lifted the Indiana East baseball team to an 8-2 win over Michigan in Sports Fest on Tuesday at Bethel College.
East led 2-0 after three innings on single runs in the second and third frames.
Michigan tied the game with a pair of runs in the fourth, however, Indiana scored the game-winner in the seventh before adding three runs in the eighth and two more runs in the ninth.
Travis Eggeman picked up the victory in relief for Indiana East. Quinn Watkins picked up the loss for Michigan in relief.
