CASSOPOLIS - Cass County's July summer property tax bills will be for two-thirds of the millage levied for county operations, the Board of Commissioners discussed June 1.
As part of a three-year phase-in, Michigan levies education millage on summer taxes and required counties at the same time to levy their operating millage.
Commissioners' resolution adopted Thursday night directs the City of Dowagiac, villages and townships to collect 3.2204 mills this summer.
Public Act 357 of 2004 amended the General Property Tax Act. By July 2007, all county operating millage will be billed in summer instead of winter.
