Cass falls in finals

LAWTON - The Cassopolis varsity softball team was defeated by Gobles in the championship of the Lawton Invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Rangers fell to the Lady Tigers, 4-3 in 10 innings.
Cassopolis reached the finals by blanking Godwin Heights 11-0 and defeating Colon, 3-1.
Gobles jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning of play only to have the Lady Rangers knot the score at 3-3 with a three-run third inning.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the 10th when Gobles pushed across the winning run.
Symone Pompey took the loss despite striking out 10 batters.
The Lady Rangers got a double from Becky File.
Against Godwin Height, Cassopolis scored two runs in the first, three runs in the third, two runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth.
Kayla Green picked up the victory for the Lady Rangers.
Cassopolis had Pompey with a pair of doubles and Molly Vite with a two-bagger as well. The Lady Rangers finished with 11 hits.
Pompey picked up the victory in the Colon game as the Lady Rangers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Cassopolis took a 1-0 lead after one inning of play, however, Colon tied the score with a run in the fourth inning.
The Lady Rangers had seven hits in the contest.
